On Tuesday, January 16 The Tennessee Valley Authority issued a Power Advisory for the 153 local power companies in the Valley due to the artic temperatures. The Power Advisory is expected to remain in effect until Wednesday, January 17.
Here are a few ways you can reduce your power consumption during these peak times:
- Turn your thermostat to 68 degrees
- Avoid using your washer, dry, dishwasher and other large appliances during this time
- Turn off lights after you leave a room
- Use layers to stay warm
